So, today was really fun! We went to the University and were hanging out with some friends we met at the dorm. They asked me if I had been to the bazar and found clothes that I liked there... Well, honestly - no way! Not digging the fashion here, but I couldn't say that, so instead I said 'oh yes! I love the Cili Kurdi' meaning - I love these crazy, fancy, kurdish dresses you wear to special occasions. So, then they insisted that I try one on and before I knew what was going on there were girls taking my clothes off and dressing me in one of these outfits and because Elyse is my twin - she had to do it too! Here are some pics of the event:

This is one of my friends dressing me with with jewelry and all!

dressing Elyse - she however refused to take off her clothes, whereas it all happened so fast I didn't really get a choice.

This is the wonder of the Kurdi!! It consists of genie in a bottle pants, a little dress that matches the pants, a long see through dress with beads and sequins and some sequiny belts and things.

These girls are all sisters that let us wear their Kurdies! They are so sweet!
It was really fun and we got some great pictures but the moral of the story is don't say 'I love Cili Kurdi' unless you are willing to put one on - right then.

You girls make me LOL!!! Life gets complicated when you're avoiding those cultural faux pas! Am impressed you were able to wear your Kurdi w/out sunglasses!
Love and miss you!
XOXO
this has to be one of the funniest posts i've read at the community 4-life blog in a looong time. i think that you're funny-ness increases when you cross the atlantic. somehow you re-telling the experience makes it all the more funny then when it actually happened - and it was pretty dang funny seeing y'all get kurdi-fied!
so does this mean when you move you will be buying one of those for when you are invited to special events??
All I wanna do is sing, "Jem, is truly outrageous, truly truly truly outrageous!"
"girl put your kurdi on! tell me your favorite song! go on ahead let your hair down!" (corinne bailey rae inspired by your kurdi)
well, it's been about 1.5 hours since you left. we've been weepy ever since. emma still calls me elyse. i'm working on saying "meesh." she can get the "me" and the "sh," but when i tell her to put it together, out comes "mush." i don't know how i feel about being called "mush abla." maybe i should just stick with elyse...
Haha!!! I laughed so hard when I read this! Thank you for making me smile friend!
By the way, had a dream about us last night. All of us were back at CS in Prescott...super fun! Made me think of you all day, and now I'm just dying to come down and visit and have fun with you!
I didn't have this address at home for some reason and didn't stop by until your email about the trip pics. So glad you did! It was great to catch up on your life, I didn't know about Jeff. Congrats to you both. So glad you were able to travel with your sis and encourage our friends. I'm sure you were a fresh breeze to them. Thanks for all your sweet comments on our blog. Ty
